Chihuahuas are alert dogs with terrier-like qualities. They are good with families if the children are gentle and patient. Because of their small size, they require little exercise and are good city dogs . Smooth coated Chihuahuas need very little grooming due to their short hair. Generally, their height ranges between 6 and 10 inches at the withers. However, some dogs grow as tall as 12 to 15 inches. The Chihuahuas colors range from solid blacks to solid whites, spotted, or a variety of other colors and patterns. A few examples are Fawn, Red, Cream, Chocolate, Blue, and Black.
**Children, especially younger ones, must be encouraged to act gently and responsibly around this smaller breed to avoid injury for both parties.**
